Où va-t-on se rencontrer? article de Charlotte Van Der Elst
pictures by Alessandro Costanzo

Starting from the question “ou va-t-on se rencontrer ? » I chose this time Murakami Karuki’s trilogy 1Q84, in which the two main characters, in love since childhood, end up meeting again when adults in a parallel world. They meet in the world of literature, which is recognisable from real world for the presence of a second moon in the sky. So -ci is a landscape where the moon is rising and reveals the linguistic particle -ci, the Italian way to say us, the act of meeting, but also the being-there.

These four découpages form the citation “ Le paysage que tu regardes, tu le reconstruis, tu le changes avec tes mots. Et donc,tu t’assures du fait que tu existes bien là comme être humain”. The piece is composed by digital collages, cut out with different hole-punchers; the fourth one is containing the phrase “bien là comme être humain”. It is installed at ground level, in order to highlight the return to the real world and to the being-there. Lastly this plastic film installation, in which the où word appears to be repeated, it becomes a landscape: a snowy mountain or maybe a cloud, which could be just another place where to meet.
